Are you a huge Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme fan?! I know I am lol…
Even if you’re not, these amazing homemade donut recipes are definitely something you need to try
Here are the ones to sweeten up any Sunday morning:
Chocolate Frosted
Source: Sallys Baking Addiction
Did you know that making donuts can be easier than making cookies?
Once you have a donut pan the possibilities are endless, and I find these chocolate frosted donuts ADOUGH-RABLE!
They are baked, not fried, the dough is soft, and they are glazed with chocolate and covered in sprinkles. And I mean, letās be honest⦠everything is better with sprinkles
They are a healthier option instead of just heading to your nearest Dunkin Donuts and taste just the same
Plus, baking these with your kids is FUN. The steps are easy and itās not messy
If youāre new to the donut making game, this recipe is a good one to try first. You will not be disappointed with this recipe!
Homemade Honey Cruller
Source: Life is a Party
Mo honey less problems!
You know that light and airy feeling you get when you bite into a donut that has been cooked to perfection?
It doesnāt happen at most donut places and it can sometimes be disappointing when youāre looking for it and your purchased donut just isnāt on that level
This honey cruller donut recipe has that light as a feather texture within every bite and OMG these are addicting
Theyāre made with a choux pastry, like cream puffs or chocolate eclairs which give them an extra burst of sweet flavor on top of the glaze
Grab a cup of coffee, take the time to make these, and enjoy your Sunday ā
Raspberry Vanilla
Source: No Spoon Necessary
My family loves waking up to the sweet smell of donuts on a Sunday morning, and I love making them
Growing up as a kid my family did one of two things on a Sunday morning:
Either my dad would make a big breakfast that consisted of pancakes, eggs, and sausage, or he would go to our nearest Quality Dairy, (if youāre from the midwest you know how special QD is), and pick up a dozen soft and decadent donuts…
The thing is, I love sausage and eggs, and Iām a big fan of my kids getting their protein in. Pancakes, eh… whatever
I decided to combine my favorite things about the weekend breakfast routine so I make donuts, sausages, and eggs for my family. Donuts are usually just as easy to make as pancakes, and they are WAY better tasting
Plus, if youāre just having one or two the nutritional value is no different from your doughy pancakes and sugary syrup
Well stop, collaborate and listen, I love these raspberry vanilla donuts!
These are baked with fresh raspberries and vanilla and then covered with a creamy rich white chocolate glaze. The best part about these other than the bursts of sweet and fruity flavor?
Obviously, the fact that they are baked. Baked donuts are literally 10x healthier than fried, and if you have the right recipe (like this one) you wonāt even be able to taste the difference
Plus, almost all of the ingredients in this recipe are items I guarantee you already have in your home. I highly suggest getting on board with our Sunday routine, itās a great end to a weekend, and start to a new week ahead!
Chocolate Glazed
Source: The Kitchen Is My Playground
A donut is happiness with sprinkles on top. So then what is a GLAZED. CHOCOLATE donut with sprinkles on top? Pure paradise!
This is another baked recipe that I just canāt get enough of. Itās easy, baked and the donut itself is light and airy
Aside from a Sunday family breakfast special, these donuts are great for events like weekend sports tournaments, school events, and treats for your little oneās lunchbox
Almost everyone likes chocolate, sprinkle covered donuts, and when you explain that they are baked and so much healthier than most other treats at events you wonāt have any leftovers!
People are just now starting to realize how easy to make donuts, so the treat itself is usually pretty unique. Come to the dark donut side, we have chocolate š©
Krispy Kreme Glazed Doughnuts Copycat
Source: Dinner Then Dessert
You want to know something that really ticks this mommy off?
Our nearest Krispy Kreme Donuts is an HOUR AND A HALF away from our house!! I mean seriously, think about all of the red lights my poor abused and neglected kids have missed out on?
As a kid, it didnāt matter what we were doing, what day of the week it was, what kind of diet my parents were trying that month…
I know when that hot light bling, that can only mean one thing! When the red light was on at Krispy Kreme, it was our duty to get a free donut. Right then and there
Yes, I have driven the hour and a half on more than one occasion and Iām not proud to admit it, but for the most part, I have just made it my duty to get the recipe right myself
I have tried at least 5 different copycat Krispy Kreme recipes… They never turn out just right
Either they arenāt glazed enough, not sweet enough, and of course the obvious doesnāt line up, the airy and doughy donut itself isnāt the right texture
This recipe is the ONE! These are glazed to perfection, soft and airy, and krispy and kremey with every bite
Happiness comes full circle, literally, with this one, folks!
Mini Cake Donuts
Source: It’s Always Autumn
Now that Iām pretty much running a Dunkin Donuts out of my kitchen, my three year old store manager and 7 year old lead chef have gotten preeeeetty involved with the donut baking business
After all their hard work and dedication, I decided to gift them a mini donut maker. Iām a baker through and through and love my oven, but these mini donut makers are cheap in stores and on Amazon and really fun for my kids
I love this recipe because these mini donuts are just SO easy to make. The base is cake mix which is fun because you can get any flavor you want
Strawberry, vanilla, lemon, chocolate, funfetti, you name it!
After that, all you need is 1 egg, ¼ cup vegetable oil, and water. Thatās it. I do have to admit that these donuts donāt taste much like the donuts from a Dunkin Donut and the consistency is different, but my kids LOVE them
And they have so much fun making them together too! If youāre looking for an easy donut recipe to make with your kids that still tastes yummy, donut worry, itās right here!
Baked Peanut Butter Nutella
Source: Recipes From A Pantry
So I have a confession to make… I tried Nutella for the first time EVER last month
Why the long wait you ask? Well, the answer is actually quite simple. I love peanut butter. And I mean, really love it
Iād rather take a spoon and have several spoonfuls then put it on a piece of toast or bagel because itās less peanut butter
Growing up my dad would literally hide the peanut butter from me because I was eating it way way WAY too much. I didnāt want to like something else that much because Peanut Butter, my waist, and I were already in a tough love triangle
But it happened and I love it. Not as much as peanut butter… But almost š
Maybe now you can imagine my love for this peanut butter Nutella baked donut. The best part about these?
Theyāre infused with peanut butter and Nutella. They donāt just get their incredible flavor from the glaze
The peanut butter and Nutella are also infused into the doughnuts before baking. The Nutella glaze is easy to make, they are ready in 30 minutes, and they are baked not fried
Spread love as thick as you spread Nutella, and start by giving a loved one this baked peanut butter Nutella donut!
Glazed Strawberry
Source: A Few Shortcuts
These donuts are berry special. A Strawberry kind of special!
They are soft cakey little strawberry holes of happiness and my family and I are all about them
Plus, they only take all of a half hour to make. Whenever I used to get donuts I always skipped the strawberry or blueberry donuts. I needed a chocolate fix and the long john or chocolate covered with sprinkled donuts were what was going to do it for me
Now that I can bake donuts and make them healthier, I find myself craving strawberry or fruity flavored donuts often, and they perfect on a sunny Sunday morning with a cup of coffee
If youāre going to make these I would definitely add sprinkles. Sprinkles make everything better and they add a great crunch to the fruity glazed goodness
You will love these berry much!
Gingerbread Recipe with Halloween Sprinkles
Source: A Magical Mess
Throughout my years of dating and now being married to the āman of my dreamsā I thought I learned that there is no such thing as the perfect man
Being human means we will at times, find a reason (or reasons) to hate something. Even something we love so much. Because of that, we will look for ANYTHING!
Things I hate about my husband?
Well, for starters he has a beard. On top of that, he has beard OIL
Which I mean okay, I didnāt realize itās so important to gel your beard daily but you wonāt shower daily or gel your hair
He also gets mad at me when I donāt make decisions on dinner but then also cannot make decisions on dinner, and will get lost because he wonāt ask for directions when he needs to, and oh yeah, he wears the same sweatpants every weekend
He also has these dumb pair of camo bathing suit bottoms that he got when he was like…21? And he likes to wear those around the house too
I could keep going folks… Trust me, thereās so much I love but isnāt it funny how we find dumb reasons to be annoyed like that?
Well, donāt you guys worry because I went ahead and found the perfect man. Heās quiet, heās sweet, and if he annoys you then you can just bite his head off
He is the gingerbread man!
Okay but seriously when itās fall and holiday season the flavor of gingerbread is just something we all have the urge to be eating. These gingerbread donuts are perfect for that!
Plus, they have a chocolate glazed frosting that is to die for and the flavors combined are so tasty. She decorated hers with Halloween sprinkles and it looks awesome but you could customize it with food coloring and different sprinkles if youāre looking to make them for something different
If youāre looking for the gingerbread flavor then run run as fast as you can…you canāt catch him heās the gingerbread man, unless youāre in the kitchen baking these š©āš³
Blueberry Lemon
Source: Lady & The Blog
If youāre in need of some lemon aid after a long week, these blueberry lemon donuts are here to save you!
These are warm, gooey, and delicious! They remind me of the kind of blueberry muffins that have a yummy glaze on top, with a lemon twist
Iām the kind of person who doesnāt like a lemon flavor to overpower everything else going on within a recipe and I can assure you that you get plenty of blueberry and sweet glaze flavor with these too
These donuts are much easier to make than blueberry muffins, and a lot healthier than most muffin recipes too
These will be your main squeeze!
Berry-Glazed Baked Doughnuts
Source: Our Best Bites
I love these berry glazed donuts. They are baked, which is important for our waistlines, but they are also mini, which means they are extremely cute and pretty to look at!
The trick to baking mini donuts is that they do bake SO fast… Like less than 5 minutes fast
The importance of not over baking these cannot be stressed enough. Iāve learned that itās definitely better to take them out prematurely instead of overdoing it because if you donāt they will be dried out
Then you and your kids will be sad and your day might be ruined because of it
I love the pink food coloring used for the glaze and the customizable sprinkles. This could be great for a girly party theme, or at any school event. Very cute and fun!
Oreo Donuts
Source: Onion Rings & Things
Oreoās. Iāll be honest, I gave up Oreos for 4 years
Iām talking cold turkey… donāt you dare buy me these and if you do I will throw them out type of give up
Oreos are one of those desserts that you canāt just eat a couple of. And as Iāve already discussed, I have quite a love for Peanut Butter
So the movie, The Parent Trap, really did me in with their āOreos with peanut butter on top combination”
I started getting serious about my weight when I turned 24. I was 150 pounds at the time, which is about 20 pounds too heavy for me. I understand thatās not obese in the slightest but for my little petite 5ā5 frame and growing up naturally skinny it was for me
Now that I have my healthy eating habits under control, I am able to enjoy desserts like this without eating the entire batch!
These oreo donuts are exactly what youād want them to be. Soft, airy, perfectly sweetened, and covered in oreo crumbs!
Plus, you can eat the filling while you crush up the Oreos
The homemade vanilla glaze made from scratch in this recipe is absolutely to die for, but if youāre in a pinch you can just as easily use store-bought vanilla frosting
Show somebody theyāre your better half with these oreo donuts today!
Baked Red Velvet
Source: Just So Tasty
A throne is only a bench covered in velvet…so does that make a red velvet donut royalty?
I think in baking I often forget about how much I really love the red velvet flavor in desserts and treats, and how much my kids do too!
These baked donuts have a crumb cake feel to them, the essential red velvet flavor in the base, and a creamy sweet glazed frosting on top
Our family always has red velvet cake on Valentineās day, but this year we had these and some ice cream and it was an absolute game changer!
These are decorated to perfection for Valentineās day, but you could customize it with food coloring in whatever way you wanted to. They are baked instead of fried which make them tons healthier and take under an hour to make
What could be better than simple, healthier, and yummy?
Yaaas queen, these red velvet donuts really are royalty!
Eggless and Dairy-Free Caramel Apple Doughnuts
Source: Nerdy Mamma
If youāve been following me for a while then you know that my beautiful 5 year old Nephew has been struggling with some serious allergies ever since he was a baby
He is allergic to most meats, peanuts, gluten, dairy, and eggs ā¹ļø
Itās crazy how many things are made with milk and eggs that we wouldnāt even think of
I have watched my sister and her amazing husband struggle to make unique and tasty meals that their family can all eat and due to that I always try to include a recipe on my posts that fit most of those categories but are still good enough for us non allergics to eat too!
These caramel apple donuts are the apple of my eye! They are frosted, doughy, and extremely tasty
The apple sauce gives them that fall apple flavor that is balanced out with coconut milk, brown sugar, and regular sweet white sugar
What’s the best part about this recipe? They are EGGLESS and DAIRY FREE!
If you have a loved one struggling with food intolerances this is a great recipe that youāll enjoy too! Absolute yum!
Homemade Jelly Doughnuts
Source: Cake Whiz
I had a life-changing moment this past holiday season and I think now is a good time to share it so that you do not make this mistake as a mommy
It was my little Mitchy’s 1st-grade holiday party. We were in a pinch the night before, and I ended up making a simple batch of brownies that we decorated with pink and green frosting
I know, Iām ashamed of the simplicity of my contribution too but I had already made so many holiday treats and had a bunch more to make, I was stressed out that day, my 2 year old was sick, etc. etc. etc
At least I made a treat okay?? š
Anyways fast forward to that day and a little boy named Danny walked up to my son and gave him one his homemade jelly filled donuts (sufganiyot they are called)
He said: āthese are for Hanukkah!ā to my son
My son replied back: “itās not Hanukkah itās Christmas!”
Danny politely replied it was both and my son was impatient and didnāt understand
I was SO embarrassed! I mean how could I, queen of the cultures mommy forget that I need to educate my son about all of these holidays?
I asked Dannyās mom for a recipe and she sent me this one. After the holidays, I spent time making these with my son and educating him about different holidays and different religions
Iām not going to lie, these are just as good if not better than store bought jelly filled donuts. If you eat them while you are warm they will be even better
It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be to make a jelly filled donut. You just need to fill a piping bag with jelly, pierce a hole into the side of the donut, and start squeezing!
I highly suggest educating your children on different holidays and religions despite any (if any) you practice or celebrate so you donāt have a moment like mine, and these jelly-filled donuts are a yummy place to start!
Baked Chocolate Pumpkin
Source: My Sequined Life
Oh my gourd, this is the perfect fall dessert!
These baked chocolate pumpkin donuts combine two separate made batters, one spicy pumpkin, and one rich chocolate. One bite of these could be a decadent chocolate flavor and the next a gingery sweet pumpkin flavor, and plenty of bites with combined flavors
Powdered sugar is also added on top to give it even more of an orchard donut feel
Fall in Michigan is the prettiest season, and itās a huge deal overall to us Michiganders. I mean, itās essentially the last two months where we will see the light of day or step outside for anything other than work for a good 5-6 months
I donāt even mess with recipes that arenāt up to par and this one definitely makes the cut
Plus, itās easy to make and baked, and the healthy addition makes me happy. Creep it real this fall with this pumpkiny chocolatey goodness!
Easy Rainbow Colored Baked Donut Recipe
Source: Play Party Plan
Have you guys heard of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides?
Well, youād never know it by the way that these rainbow donuts taste, but there is a ton of proteins in these and this treat is actually very, very, healthy
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides are colorless, odorless, and flavorless
They’re a healthy form of protein that is all-natural and sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals. And bonus, the peptides are great for your skin, hair, and bones
If you have a picky little one at home these look, taste, and nutritionally play the part for a healthy balanced meal… so much so that I feel weird even calling these donuts
Once you try them youāll be blown away because the extra nutrition really has no taste whatsoever. I will definitely be experimenting with these vital proteins in other recipes, but they are amazing in this one!
Powdered Sugar Donut Holes
Source: Shugary Sweets
I wonāt lie to you, I usually avoid powdered sugar like the plague
Itās just… my kids are dirty and messy and gross and powdered sugar is their best friend. I find it in their hair, on their clothes, underneath their clothes (somehow)
My kids love it so much, especially with their french toast. Which, by the way, the powdered sugar mixed with the sticky syrup is the DEADLIEST concoction for messy little ones
My kids have actually gotten really sad about me not using powdered sugar and I find these baked powdered sugar donuts to be much cleaner than french toast, and much healthier too!
These are super easy to make so sometimes Iāll whip up 3-4 batches while my kids are at school and surprise them for a special breakfast or before bed treat
These are sweet, cake crumb like, and taste almost exactly like the fried kind. I think itās definitely worth giving into the mess every once in a while!
Baked Glazed Lemon
Source: An Affair from the Heart
Thereās something about lemon and summer that just go hand in hand
Lemonade, lemon lotions, lemon juice on your skin and in your hair, and lemon glazed food
I love a good glazed lemon donut, especially when I can wake up mid-July, and drink my coffee on my porch while munching on this light and bright treat
What I love so much about this recipe is that as far as healthy goes, this glazed lemon donut is about as healthy as youāll get without compromising taste. With less than 300 calories per donut and extremely filling, this treat will come without guilt
These are an extremely sweet treat, and if you like a lemon flavor then a must make in your house
There is nothing I love more on a sweet lemon baked good then to dunk it in a tart glaze, and thatās exactly what happens here
These make donuts for breakfast easy peasy lemon squeezy!
